Haldir is a fictional character from J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle Earth legendarium, specifically appearing in *The Lord of the Rings*. He is a Marchwarden, one of the Elves of Lórien, tasked with guarding the borders of the Golden Wood.
He first appears in *The Fellowship of the Ring* when the Fellowship, fleeing Moria, enters Lothlórien. Haldir and his brothers lead the party to Caras Galadhon, the city of the Galadhrim, ensuring their safety within the enchanted borders.
In Peter Jackson's *The Lord of the Rings* movie trilogy, Haldir plays a somewhat expanded role. He is portrayed as leading a company of Elven archers to Helm's Deep to aid the Rohirrim in their defense against the Uruk-hai, where he tragically perishes in battle. This event is not present in Tolkien's original book.
